The author is another obscure player—Ted Mauro—who claims he has been playing since he was 13 years old. However, he is quick to show he has some credentials. I am one of the first to be given a review copy by Ted so I didn't actually purchase the book. Ted needed the opinion of real pool players so being in his circle, I got a copy in my inbox one day. The text is well written and neat. I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to reading books and I like spaces and proper alignments. All of these make for a "good read" anyway. The lessons are good and work in real-life games. You'd have to have played a ton of tournaments or pick-up games to know that Ted writes from experience. With much experience you learn to formulate your own strategies from learning by losing. Ted's style cannot be read in other books as it is his own. If you want a fresh perspective on the game of eight-ball, you can use the tips here, try and apply them, and eventually form your own style of play.
